Klear Action Acne Treatment System Review

Klear Action is a 3-step system that fights acne with the usual cleanser, toner and lotion combination, plus the package now includes a spot treatment. The product has grown in popularity thanks largely to its proven business strategy of "imitate the market leader".

There's no denying it, Klear Action is very similar to Proactiv. The main active ingredients for their core products are exactly the same. You'll find a deep pore cleanser with 2.5% BP, an oil-reducing toner with glycolic acid, and an acne repair lotion with another dose of 2.5% BP. The spot treatment cream is the only real departure, with a strong concentration of 6% BP.

Those similarities aren't necessarily a bad thing. Proactiv's combination of benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid has been shown to work for many with mild-to-moderate acne, and you may be able to buy Klear Action for less. The spot treatment is a decent bonus, although it's very likely to irritate your skin. Of course, there are also different side ingredients, but user reviews are split on their impact, with some claiming that Klear Action is harsher than Proactiv, while others claim the exact opposite (honestly, neither one is great for people with sensitive skin).

Klear Action at a glance

+

Affordable alternative to Proactiv with the same active ingredients.

+

Glycolic acid is gentler than salicylic acid for those with sensitive skin.

-

Clearly surface-level. Will not stop deep pustules or cysts.

-

Lots of BP and no moisturizer = expect some dryness and peeling, particularly with the spot treatment.

-

Can treat current blemishes as they appear, but does not offer any acne prevention.

Who should try Klear Action

Do you like Proactiv? Want something almost exactly like it that's maybe a few bucks cheaper? Well then Klear Action is for you! Honestly though, those who fall into the same mild-to-moderate category of acne sufferers that Proactiv targets are likely to see similar results here. So if your blemishes mostly consist of whiteheads, blackheads, and the occasional surface-level pustule, Klear Action may be enough to help. Just avoid the spot treatment if you have sensitive skin.

Who should not try Klear Action

If you have stubborn acne and want lasting relief, this type of solution is unlikely to provide it. Klear Action is not intended to combat serious or severe breakouts. Also, if treatments based on benzoyl peroxide irritate your skin (or if you've already built up a resistance to BP), you should probably pass, as this product is more of the same. Results may prove to be only temporary, and there is the typical hassle of applying any multi-step system on a daily basis, so if these issues are a factor for you, you might want to just save your cash.
