Olay Pro-X Clear Acne Protocol Review

Olay is known for their beauty products, with a range of mid-to-high-end offerings for skin care. A quick scan of Pro-X Clear Acne Protocol reviews shows that the brand has plenty of fans, but not everyone who loves Olay will love this kit. Some return to using a collection of other Olay products and find better results.

One thing is certain: big companies love to come up with ridiculous names for their acne treatments. The Pro-X Clear Acne Protocol kit is based on the 3-step system model that has become industry standard, and is composed of a cleanser with salicylic acid (SA), a treatment with more SA, and a hydrating lotion with glycerin. The active ingredients are pretty common, and most describe the treatment as being on the gentler side, although perhaps too gentle to give satisfying results for those with more stubborn acne.

Olay recommends applying the products between 1 and 3 times per day (which means 3 times per day for those of you with real acne). The portions should last a month if used twice per day, longer or shorter depending on your acne severity. The price is a bit higher than many of its competitors, but for those with very sensitive skin it may be worth it.

Who should try Olay Pro-X

If the usual treatments leave your skin red and peeling, Olay's Pro-X Clear Acne Protocol should prove to be a gentler alternative. It's designed to be easy on adult skin and avoid increased susceptibility to sun damage. Like any system based on SA, it's going to be most effective against surface-level acne, with this solution specifically geared towards milder cases. It's also a good idea to give this kit a try if you're already a fan of Olay products (although don't count on it replacing your current regimen). Unlike acne products that leave your skin parched, most report their skin feeling smooth and soft after use. Just be aware that you may pay a little more than you would for products with similar main ingredients.

Who should not try Olay Pro-X

While many report the products soothing their skin, not everyone actually sees reduced acne. Pro-X Clear Acne Protocol may not be the best solution for users with more stubborn pustules or cysts. Since the products rely on SA, your results will likely depend on how reactive you are to that particular chemical. It's one of the most popular active ingredients on the market, so chances are you've had some exposure to it before. If your skin has proved resistant (or especially sensitive) to SA in the past, chances are you're not going to see positive results here either.
