Oxy Maximum Daily Cleansing Pads Review

Oxy popularized cleansing pads back in the 90's, and while they're no longer as hot of an item in today's crowded acne market, many people still turn to them for controlling surface oil, dirt and bacteria. Oxy's Maximum Daily Cleansing Pads are the latest iteration, bolstering their usual absorbance with salicylic acid for promoting exfoliation.

The TV commercials for Oxy Pads were famous for showing how much gunk was hidden under seemingly clean skin, and if you've used these products, you've probably noticed the same yourself. It's no secret that typical cleansers miss a lot of the sediment that gets trapped down in your pores. Oxy Pads do a good job of drawing these deep waste deposits out, potentially stopping your pores from getting clogged. It's also satisfying to immediately see the results (via the dirt on your pad). However, the fact remains that for many types of acne, surface dirt and bacteria ultimately have little to do with the problem.

Who should try Oxy Cleansing Pads

Oxy Pads are effective in their basic function, and while they may not be the gentlest cleansing pads out there, if all you need is a deep-cleaning solution for whiteheads and blackheads, then this may the answer for you. The exfoliation effect can help fight clogged pores, and the product is affordably priced with 90 pads per bottle. The texture of the pads also means that the exfoliation benefits will be stronger here than with typical liquid cleansers that include salicylic acid. Just be sure that your skin can take a little punishment, as despite claims to the contrary, regular use of Oxy Pads can definitely dry out your skin.

Who should not try Oxy Cleansing Pads

Compared to most cleansers, Oxy Maximum Daily Cleansing Pads are strong. They can strip away your protective layer of oil and leave even your hands excessively dry, so while they may seem like a convenient portable solution, some may find them too irritating unless you follow with a moisturizer. I used Oxy Pads myself for several months, and while I noticed plenty of dirt that my cleansers missed, the actual effect on my acne was minimal. Simply put, most acne is not caused by surface dirt and bacteria, so if you suffer from deep-forming pustules or cysts, don't expect a solution like this to have much of an impact. Oxy Pads are better used as a supplement to your other products, rather than a stand-alone acne remedy.
