3 Smart Tips for Natural Clear Skin

Sure, we review a lot of standard, topical acne treatments on this site, but the fact is that some of the best steps you can take to improve your skin don't require any creams or cleansers at all. These 3 tips really helped me put a stop to my acne, and they should work for you as well.

Step 1: Take at least 1 dedicated supplement every day

What do I mean by "dedicated" supplements? Well, I'm talking about supplements that are very strong in one key ingredient - that aim to improve your skin in a targeted, specific way. I'm not talking about general multivitamins or "a little bit of everything" antioxidant formulations.

For myself, every morning and night I take 2 tablets of Clear5 and 1 capsule of krill oil (1,000 mg). The Clear5 keeps my skin oil in check (along with the other benefits I detail in our Clear5 review), and the krill oil takes care of my essential fatty acids (EFAs), which aid in reducing inflammation and keeping your skin cells supple. I recommend krill oil over alternatives such as fish oil, as krill oil is not only a potent source of omega-3s, but also has 10x the antioxidants.

Step 2: Find at least 1 fruit and 1 vegetable that you like, and always have them in the kitchen

Eating a skin-healthy diet is essential, but you're never going to get anywhere unless you find foods that you actually enjoy. All too often, "healthy" eating is associated with foods that taste bland or outright bad unless you have hours of free time to prepare them. This doesn't have to be the case.

Start small and find 1 fruit and 1 vegetable that you enjoy enough to eat on a regular basis (just no cherries or sweet potatoes - try to make them as nutritious as possible). For me, I love having half a grapefruit with breakfast and fresh spinach to make a salad later on.

Once you find these 2 foods, have them stocked in your kitchen at all times. These should become foods that you reach for instead of the usual chips or other junk food when you get the munchies. Simply by having a healthy alternative always present, your diet (and your skin!) will improve markedly.

Step 3: Wash less often, and wash gentler

Obviously this step will be hard to follow if you're currently using a multi-step treatment, and if you are, then by all means use it exactly as directed (don't commit one of my 5 big acne mistakes), but if you're in-between treatments and nothing seems to be working for you, try doing less.

It might sound crazy, but along with taking Clear5, my skin really started to improve when I began washing fewer times per day (only once or twice) and using gentler cleansers. Many acne sufferers over-treat their skin, which leads to irritation and often has the effect of our cells simply building up a resistance to the leading chemicals. Instead of battling against your skin with harsh "acne cleansers", try pampering it with natural, non-drying solutions such as an organic cleansing milk.
